Broken Down Locamotive - Tikal BFL

"The idea happened in a moment.  The draft was drawn in a week while the mining was done in two.  The assembly took a month and I ran for sixty years.  The abandonment took a day.  The graffiti took five minutes.  The rust will be an ongoing process until the steel and brass plummet to the mossy earth, and I tumble off the tracks with exhaustion and a loss of all hope.  It didn’t used to be like this.  No, it was a wonderful, scenic existence, full of opportunities, journeys and destinations.

I took people everywhere they wanted to go.  I took people everywhere they didn’t want to go.  I took people to wars they would never come back from.  I took people away from children they would never see again.  I took doctors to cure sick patients.  I reunited mothers and daughters.  I took people to protests and festivals.

You have to take the good with the bad, I always say.  At the end of every tunnel, there is a brilliant light in which the world looks brand new.  After every desert drought there is a monsoon giving life back to everything that thought the rain would never come.

I wish I still believed that now, but unfortunately, I feel as though I shall perish here on these rusty tracks, with these rusty wheels, all alone.  I feel no one will ever hear the stories of everyday people.  But me? I listen."

Tikal is a 100% Superwash BFL. The naturally long staple of the Bluefaced Leicester sheep makes this yarn both soft and strong, perfect for sweaters, hats, scarves, and more. Naturally less susceptible to pilling, the sheen of this fiber makes for a beautiful and durable garment. With enviable drape, and creamy feel as the yarn runs through your fingers, you are sure to find far too many excuses to use this yarn!

DK, 246 yds/225 meters, 100g

No two skeins are identical: if you need more than one skein for your project, it is recommended that you alternate rows to ensure more variegation and less pooling.

My yarns are dyed with professional quality acid dyes to ensure vivid colors that will last against washing and sunlight.

This listing is for one skein of ready-to-ship yarn.

Superwash treated wool can, theoretically, be thrown in the washing machine on a cool setting. To maintain a long life for your garments however, I recommend that you hand wash your wool in cold water with as little agitation as possible. Squeeze out excess water (do not wring since this will damage the fibers and distort your garment), and roll in a towel or lay flat to dry, blocking if necessary. Store yarn as well as finished objects where they are safe from the harmful appetites of moths.
