Phonecia - Angkor merino/silk fingering weight

27.00

Royal purple, derived from a species of mollusk, originates in the ancient Greek Isles. The Phonecians have some of the first evidence for dyeing textiles with this color. The name Phonecia means “land of purple”.

Angkor is an elegant blend of 70% superwash merino, and 30% silk. The silk gives a beautiful drape to fabric, and the blend of springy merino reduces pilling. The higher twist of this yarn adds strength and ensures that the fibers retain their union. This elegant single ply works magnificently in shawls, fine sweaters, and hats.

Single ply, Fingering weight, 438 yds/400 meters, 100g

No two skeins are identical: if you need more than one skein for your project, it is recommended that you alternate rows to ensure more variegation and less pooling. Please note that there are many many factors that determine how the dyes will behave; the actual skein you receive may vary slightly from the photos. If you would like a greater number of skeins for a specific project, you are welcome to inquire and they will all be dyed at the same time to ensure the greatest level of similarity!

My yarns are dyed with professional quality acid dyes to ensure vivid colors that will last against washing and sunlight.

This listing is for one skein of ready-to-ship yarn.

Superwash treated wool can, theoretically, be thrown in the washing machine on a cool setting. To maintain a long life for your garments however, I recommend that you hand wash your wool in cold water with as little agitation as possible. Squeeze out excess water (do not wring since this will damage the fibers and distort your garment), and roll in a towel or lay flat to dry, blocking if necessary. Store yarn as well as finished objects where they are safe from the harmful appetites of moths.
