Sofandi Í Hlöðunni - Lascaux alpaca

Sometimes, a nap is in order. Maybe you have been feeding the chickens, mending fences, or just checking in on all of the animals that call your farm home. Years ago, when I volunteered at my local farm, we would occasionally have movie nights in the hay barn. Everyone would plop down on a small area of the towering pile of hay, and eat popcorn while watching a film projected on the inside of the wooden wall. Many farm workers would find themselves having fallen asleep, cradled in a comforting nest of hay. I hope Sofandi í Hlöðunni (Asleep in the Barn) brings those memories to you.

Lascaux is a 4 ply blend of 20% superfine alpaca, 60% Superwash merino, and 20% nylon. This unique yarn is an incredibly soft marriage of delightful superfine alpaca, with merino for body, and nylon for strength. Lascaux is a great yarn for socks, sweaters, shawls, hats, or anything next-to-skin.

4 ply sock, 437 yds/399 meters, 100g

No two skeins are identical: if you need more than one skein for your project, it is recommended that you alternate rows to ensure more variegation and less pooling.

My yarns are dyed with professional quality acid dyes to ensure vivid colors that will last against washing and sunlight.

Superwash treated wool can, theoretically, be thrown in the washing machine on a cool setting. To maintain a long life for your garments however, I recommend that you hand wash your wool in cold water with as little agitation as possible. Squeeze out excess water (do not wring since this will damage the fibers and distort your garment), and roll in a towel or lay flat to dry, blocking if necessary. Store yarn as well as finished objects where they are safe from the harmful appetites of moths.
